Dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Park County, Colorado

The Origin
of
McGraw Memorial Park

Edward and Blanche McGraw came to the Bailey area in the 1870s and opened the first grocery store, the Bailey Country Store, (now, the Sasquatch Outpost) on Main Street.  In 1969 their granddaughter, Helen McGraw Tatum, who was born in Bailey and lived here many years, donated the land for this Park to the Park County Historical Society.  The Park is for public enjoyment and historical information about the area.

The Park has undergone many developments over the years and is now the center of activity for the community and visitors to our area.

The historic buildings at the McGraw Memorial Park are open May through October
by chance or by appointment.

Heritage Center

The Heritage Center is the newest facility at the Park. Long known as "The Annex" it was used for storage of records and artifacts.  With the support of the South Park National Heritage Area, the Park County Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, countless volunteers, and a lot hard work, this building has been transformed into something more useful.

The Heritage Center is used for meetings and historical presentations.  It will seat about forty-five guests and has facilities for snacks and beverages.  In addition, there are historic displays of Park County's history and heritage.

We consider this facility a community resource. If you would like to use the Heritage Center for small gatherings, drop us a note.  We will do what we can to accommodate your needs.
